Second Year of 100% Thrifted Clothes

At the end of 2007, I decided to challenge myself to only buy thrifted/secondhand/handmade clothes for one year.  It was a success and I blogged about it last January.  Since I love to go thrift shopping, it was pretty easy to do... so I kept it up for another year.  I didn't buy any "new" clothes in 2009 either.

One goal I'd made in last year's recap post was to weed out my clothing and end up with a 100% Thrifty closet.  I documented one such attempt last February, and my closet ended up around 82% thrifted.

Then we moved and I haven't really done another big weed out since.  There may have been one or two bags dropped off at Goodwill, but not enough to balance out what I've brought home.

I've got piles on top of piles of clothes and my closet, hell, my bedroom, is out of control.  In October I was able to get most everything hung up and/or stuffed in drawers (see right), but I really need to do that again.  I could open a nice little flea market stall with all the clothes I've got set aside to list on etsy (something I might do once the weather warms up, there is a cool flea market at the Raleigh fairgrounds).

Something else I did this past year was to continue to predominately feature only 100% Thrifty outfits when I uploaded pictures to my flickr.  Out of 75 outfits, 74 of them were 100% Thrifty.  The odd one out contained a top I bought new in 2004.

2010 will likely be another year of no new clothes!  Gifts (or gift cards) are allowed though ;)
