All three boys are home (it is a teacher work day), and are currently being entertained by NetFlix Instant Play. After lunch (behind me, warming on the stove), I guess I'd better get them outside for some Vitamin D.
Other than that the plans are to maybe go drop off trash/recycling and then later on I really need to do some serious grocery shopping. Our cupboards are bare. If I really feel daring, I might try picking up a few things with the three stooges in tow, but there are several cons to that scenario... it frazzles me, I end up spending more than I should, and it frazzles me.
While I've got several fun newish vintage items to wear, lately I've been dressing more Sporty Spice than Vintage Diva... except today I felt more Hippie 'N Boots.
I cut about 10" off the length of this fair trade dress, recently thrifted for 50% off. The back is cute too (buttons up) so I might wear it in reverse the next time.
I really like my woven ethnic design bag that I thrifted a long time ago and came across the other day while digging through my "To Mend/Repurpose" storage bin.
Yes, I have a 35 GL STORAGE BIN of things to mend (most of it has been in there for years). I also have 35 gallons of "Fabric", 35 gallons of "Craft Supplies" and 35 gallons of "To Sell / Spare Summer & Maternity." You'd think there would be projects a plenty a flowing out of my magical crafty fingers, but no. I'm trying though. Cutting this dress shorter was a start. I hemmed a different dress this morning also and may experiment with removing the collar at some point.
That is probably about as much as I'll be able to squeeze in for the day. Now I just need to chill out, maybe put another coat of "Brunette on the Internet" nail polish on (thanks BFF, love the name and color), oh and try to keep the boys out of trouble until their father comes home to find the staple gun for me. Thanks for all the suggestions on my DIY FAIL post... if I don't end up using velcro sticky tape I've got it on my list to pick up for some other project some time in the future. Hence the 35 gallons of craft supplies.

You've had some nice weather. We've gotten has high as around 50 degrees then got hit with another snow storm. Soon, soon, spring will really be here. I totally get the frazzled thing with kids at the grocery store! If I can help it, I don't bring them. Love the name of that polish! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteBack to cold here too ugh! Loving your outfit today! Very chic/boho looking LOVE IT! hope you're still gonna post the face mask pic lol...must be us MOMS need to rejuvinate around the same time. That day I actually did the mask I also shaved my legs (amazing I know!) filed my nails and gave myself a mini pedi. All three of the kids home? Oh, I hate those teach workdays BS! did I say that? If I see a leopard print belt around I'll snatch it up for ya!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful dress. The sheer amount of mending you describe makes me feel a bit better about my mending/alterations pile. I remember the days of trying to grocery shop with little ones. Invariably, I get up to the check out and discover that they had thrown items in the cart without my knowledge. Eeergh.
ReplyDeleteThose are crazy nice sounding temperatures. But - right here, right now it's 45F and sunny! Woot! That dress looks great on you - perfect length and nice silhouette.
ReplyDeleteMy gosh you are the incredible shrinking woman! And I love your style, adore it actually. I refuse to shop by myself with the kids now, I hate it, it makes me feel like someone is banging my head with an inflatable hammer - incessantly. So it's either shopping online, or my hubs and I AND kids go on Sunday morning. your dress is awesome and i'm glad you hemmed it!
